The text of which i speak of is title "The Spoiler" a satiric novel loaded with the rapier wit of Annalene McAfee, founder of the Guardian Review and wife of literary heavyweight Ian McEwen. Both reviews i read poked at the cleverness in McAfee's writing, which is great, because i love reading clever. One reviewer said though that her vocabulary gets in the way of the story, although at the same time the overarching theme of her review was dubbing "The Spoiler" as journalism's "Gatsby," which only entreats it to me even more as Nick Carroway's tale is one of my favourite novels, and i'm reading "Tender is the Night" right now.
As a news buff, i'll say this book goes to the top of my reading list.
