Tunesday #1

TUNESDAY: Where i just post a song on this blog every week for my own entertainment.

The Shins: “September” (b-side of “Simple Song” 7”) from Record Store Day on Vimeo.

Today, it's a new release from harmonic indie-pop stalwarts and long-term favourite, The Shins- yay. As a group they've been on a hiatus for about 5 years  since releasing, then touring to death, their immensely successful album, Wincing the Night Away. Those tunes stuck around for a long time on the underground, quasi commercial airwaves, getting regular play at hipster gatherings,  and gaining indie-pop classic status.

Anyway, their next album, the eagerly anticipated Port of Morrow, will drop on March 20,  joining all this other good stuff that's happening around then (see Mad Men, Hunger Games, my birthday..haha not really. )

If you havn't already heard the first single off that album, Simple Song, which was released a few days into 2012, then you should give it a spin. It's pretty great. September, which is the one i've posted above is a more reflective, mellow, (aptly titled in my opinion) tune that nicely complements the jaunty, killer, hooky- chorus -possessing Simple Song. So there you go, hope you enjoy both!
